You can only indeed download files that you have uploaded yourself, for backup purpose. When your friends shared files with you, you can stream them but not download them.

Flash player and Flash uploaders have already been reported as not working properly on Linux Ubuntu, due to an old version of Flash on this platform.

You should normally be able to display http://iphone.wixi.com with almost any mobile browser (even for cheap model phones), but playback of media might be restricted to mp3 and jpg on most common phones, and mp4 videos only allowed on high end models.

Which phone are you using now?

It all comes down to subjective points of view.

For example, I am a fan of photography of all kinds and there are some brilliant and excellent photographic craftsmen. One genre of photography is erotica - I can already hear some tutting, but hold up a minute - erotica, which is the appreciation of the human form that is done tastefully is NOT pornography.
I myself have had one account on another file storage site discontinued for having photographs amd artwork that contained some flesh, but I might add, no private areas of the human form were to be seen! The files were merely being stored and all the files were kept in one folder with a privacy setting by which only I could access.

I do not believe that 'pornographic' material should be openly accessible on sites like Wixi. There are members of todays society that might consider tasteful body art, sensually suggested artwork and photography still a taboo, which is a point view that should be respected by others, so why not, which has already been suggested, a point of access to files and folders which gives a notice to members of the material contained within letting them be responsible for their own decisions as adults.

Of course there are limits to all material that should never, ever be allowed which, for example, might involve the vulnerable, the young, and other unacceptable extremes.

What's wrong with a piece of artwork or imagery of a beautiful human being though?
Let's have the responsible decide for theirselves and keep the perverted out.

A friend has set a public folder containing media (mp3) files on their Wixi page so that We can share.

I have added the fokder to my Wixi. Even though it is a public access folder I am unable to download the files that I wish to.
I recieve a message saying 'Only the person that uploaded 'such-n-such' files is able to download the file.

Please excuse my ignorance, but why is this? Why are we unable to exchange 'public' files in this way and would this be the same case for 'friends only' access?

Constantly get script error ... script causing IE to run slowly, comp may become unresponsive, continue running the script? when trying to upload.
The error is most prominent when the upload speed sometimes jumps to 100-200kbps.

The other major issue, the last 4 movies I watched froze halfway through.
The file was buffered all the way through, but no matter what I did it would not continue playing past 40-60%. The rest of Wixi was fine, but the movie was stuck.
These are movies I added from others' collections.

On one of my online profiles I use a host player from playlist.com.
With these players you can add a direct link a mp3s you wish to play in the player.
e.g. http: //members.kstp.at/hakim/nanc1.mp3

It would be great if you had the option of a direct link in the file share options.

And/or an autostart option on the embedded Wixi flash player.
With an autostart option intergrated into the embedded Wixi player people would not have a need for hosted players.

I'll be trying on a few just to see what happens, but definitely no success on the Samsung Instinct. Navigating there forces the phone's browser to close. Perhaps after the next Instinct firmware update, it will work better...but, making a plain-jane, basic Web 1.0 page available as a backup for devices such as this may be the solution.
